Fall is upon on us with Cooler temperatures, the smell of pumpkin spice is in the air and summer travel is fading away which makes it a wonderful time to get a puppy! What better puppy to get than a DOODLE that is low shedding, and low dander making them more hypoallergenic and easier to have as a family pet? We raise Aussiedoodles, Bernadoodles and Mini Australian Mountain Dogs which is a cross between an Aussiedoodle and a Bernadoodle. This means they have the laid back, chill attitude of Burmese Mountain Dog without the overwhelming size, the hypoallergenic coat of a poodle, and the gorgeous markings and intelligence of an Aussie! Some might say that is the PAWfect combination for an amazing family dog! No matter which breed draws you in, we can help your family find the right fit for your needs.
We began 17 years ago by raising, showing and training purebred Australian Shepherds (which we still do as Bluebonnet Ridge Aussies). However, we saw family lives began to change and had many requests from our families to add doodles to our program which spurred us to begin our search for some of the nicest lines in each breed from around the country to join our program. As with our Australian Shepherd, all dogs chosen to join our program are registered and have full genetic health testing through Paw Print Genetics and / or Embark. It also means that they have cleared our stringent temperament requirements as we raise our 7.5 year old granddaughter so being kid friendly is not optional!
Over the last 5 years, we have slowly built the doodle side of our program. As a licensed breeder in the State of Texas, we consistently strive to raise well-bred, well loved and very well socialized doodle puppies in a manner that they all should be raised but often aren’t. We love our dogs and are always reinvesting in our program to make life better for our babies and their parents. Parent dogs are family members, who are well socialized and well mannered. We prioritize the health, mental well being and love of our dogs. In 2021 alone we invested in a nice office so we can more easily facilitate farm visits no matter what the weather, in a well lit, climate controlled building. We are also in the process of building a new, state of the art nursery. Our original one is nice, clean and climate controlled but we had an even nicer vision for our pups with even bigger indoor / outdoor runs with a doggie door so mommas and babies can decide where they want to be as well as intuitively adding to potty training. Puppies learn to use the doggy door in addition to having access to litter boxes indoors for the tiny puppies. In this building, we also have a professional grooming bay, a medical bay and a photography studio as well as incredible sensory play yards with climbing structures, tunnels, wobble boards, ball pits, and lots of toys. Our dogs are not in crates but have well thought out play yards on grass that are large and well appointed. In addition, most of our dogs LOVE the water and take advantage of swimming in our large 3/4 of an acre pond in the front 3 acres of our property. Our doodles have lots of room to run and play and quite frankly, just be dogs!
In addition, we are proud and blessed by are alliance with our local high school ag department where students in the ag program and / or in their pre-vet program can get paid internships with us. Many of these interns plan to stay while they attend local community colleges or A&M Commerce for their veterinary program. This program is a mutual benefit for our interns who get unbelievable hands on experience in all sides of raising these magnificent puppies as well as our babies benefiting from additional socialization from being loved on and handled by a bigger variety of people. More hands also means more time to stop and just play with puppies! Who doesn’t love smelling the captivating aroma of sweet puppy breath? As they say, do a job you love, and you will never feel like you work a day in your life. Raising puppies is a labor of love but we feel it is worth every minute of it when we see the happy smiles of our families or hear the glee of the children who hold their first puppy and find out it is theirs.
